The Neocaridina “Yellow Golden Eye” is an interesting new breeding line from Asia. As with the Yellow Neonstripe, the shrimp are yellow in color and have a continuous dorsal stripe. In addition, they have yellow eyes, which truly makes the shrimp 100% yellow. However, an important note: these shrimp are often labeled as “OE,” which is somewhat misleading. They do not have the orange eyes of our Neocaridina Orange Eyes – they truly have yellow eyes, making this an independent genetic line.

We acquired our first specimens at the TGISC 2024 Shrimp Championship, where they won first place in Category 2, “Neocaridina – internal coloration.” We are pleased to be able to offer this line to you as well – they are still not very widespread.

How stable is this line?
These animals are offspring of imported shrimp, so the line is not yet as stable as our regular Yellow Neon Stripe variety. The animals we offer have a continuous dorsal stripe, but juveniles are often somewhat paler and not always fully developed in this regard. There is still a need for selection, which is acceptable in our opinion for such a young line.

Neocaridina with yellow eyes?
These shrimp do not have orange but yellow eyes. This represents a different genetic variation than our “Orange Eyes,” which form the core of our breeding projects.

Size at sale:
We make sure to supply a balanced ratio of females, males, and juveniles (approximately one-third each).

General information on care and breeding

Like all dwarf shrimp of the genus Neocaridina, these animals are very adaptable and can usually be kept easily in tap water (18–26 °C). In our facility, the tap water parameters are: pH 7.6, gH 10, kH 9, conductivity 600 µS, 22 °C.
The shrimp feed on regular fish food, algae growth, and decaying plant and animal matter. This makes them excellent scavengers that contribute to the biological balance of the aquarium.

Coexistence with small and medium-sized fish can work, but it is advisable to provide sufficient hiding places such as moss and driftwood. Under optimal conditions, they grow into lively colonies.
