Melanopsis buccinoidea sp. "Purple Haze" belongs to the group of trumpet snails and has a short, compact dark shell that shows a purple shimmer depending on the light. This species has only recently become available in Germany and, due to its growing popularity, is now increasingly found in our aquariums. The animals offered here are German-bred specimens that are already adapted to tap water and show no signs of diseases or shell damage from import.
Size at sale: The snails sold have a minimum size of 1 cm.
General care and breeding information: Representatives of the Purple Haze snail have been discovered in (often fast-flowing) waters in Jordan, Lebanon, Cyprus, and southern Turkey. Due to this natural distribution, temperatures between 20 °C and 30 °C are not a problem for these animals. The Purple Haze can reach a maximum size of around 4 cm. Breeding in the aquarium is relatively easy; however, the animals are dioecious (separate sexes). Therefore, you do not have to worry about population explosions as seen with some other snail species (such as bladder snails).
