The blue ramshorn snail Planorbella duryi is a species of snail that is widely used in aquariums. Strictly speaking, it is a cultivated form that is often also called the avatar snail. The snail itself is not blue, the shimmer is caused by the light shell and dark body of these animals . These are our own offspring.
Sale size: Sale animals have a minimum size of 1.5 cm in diameter without any damage to the shell.
General information on keeping and breeding: This type of snail can generally be kept with all aquarium inhabitants that do not have snails on their menu (such as puffer fish). Because it is so undemanding, it can be kept at temperatures of 18 - 30 °C. It feeds on growth and dead plant remains, but leaves the roots and leaves of the plants alone. Since these animals are hermaphrodites, they reproduce more or less on their own. In order to avoid overpopulation, it is therefore recommended not to feed the animals specifically. The excretions of other aquarium inhabitants or algae growth are sufficient for this in established tanks. Some specimens reach a size of over 3 cm.
